Size and Strength for women

Updated: Jan 13, 2019

I have been asked many times by women - if I lift weights will it make me look like Arnold? In short no! Firstly, Arnie took steroids (subject for another article), secondly not unless you grow a pair (my trainer Giles Greenwood's words). Women have the hormone oestrogen and men have testosterone. Yes, you can gain size if you increase your calories and yes you can gain strength if you keep reps low, weights heavy and concentrate on compound movements (bench, squat, shoulder press and bent over rows). You can replace squats with dead lifts. If you are worried about being bulky then don't be as it wont happen. Lifting weights is an excellent way to meet many different goals, be it mass, toning, general strength or functional strength.
